Gelli Arts was founded in 2011 by Joan Bess and Lou Ann Gleason. The two women from totally different career paths joined together as a collective mind to turn an exciting idea into a reality. Joan had an idea, Lou Ann understood it and knew how to make it happen.

Joan Bass envisioned a non-perishable printing plate that had the same sensitive surface as gelatin; a plate that could be stored at room temperature in her studio; a plate that would always be ready for printing; and importantly, a plate made of non-toxic materials.

After plenty of research they found a resource that would work and with that they created The Gelli Arts™ Gel Printing Plate!
